Early life and career of Stephanus Johannes Myburgh
Stephanus Johannes Myburgh was born on 13 October 1986 in the town of Ermelo, North Holland. After starting his career at hometown club VV Ermelo, he moved to FC Groningen in 2006. He made his Eredivisie debut in a 2-1 victory over Excelsior Rotterdam on 28 September 2006. He went on to make 131 appearances for Groningen, scoring 19 goals. In January 2013, he moved to Ajax Amsterdam for a fee of €2 million. At Ajax, Myburgh became the first player from Groningen to play for both clubs in the same season; he made 27 appearances and scored 2 goals for the club before being released in 2015.
On 1 February 2016, Myburgh joined Scottish side Aberdeen on loan until the end of the season. His first match for Aberdeen came against Dundee United on 2 February 2016; he played 73 minutes before being substituted for Kenny McLean. Aberdeen won 3-0 and Myburgh impressed coach Derek McInnes with his performance.
