Soumya Sarkar made his debut in 2014 and before making his debut, he played for the Under-19 team in the 2010 and 2012 Under-19 World Cup. He is a top order batsman who is a right arm medium fast bowler as well. Soumya was first included in the squad for a T20I match against New Zealand but didn’t play the match.

His first international match came against Zimbabwe in 2014. Soon after that, he was included in the 2015 World Cup squad of Bangladesh team as well. Soumya’s first big innings came against Pakistan in 2015, where he scored a century in an ODI match.

Soumya’s 61 runs and 5 catches in a test match against Sri Lanka in 2017 still remains one of the best performances so far. He also holds the record of taking most catches in a match. Soumya Sarkar scored his maiden test century in 2019 against New Zealand.

His highest T20I score came against Zimbabwe in 2020, when he hit 62 runs on 32 balls. Soumya broke his own record and scored his highest individual T20I score, this time once again against Zimbabwe. He made 68 runs on 49 balls. He is a fine cricketer who has the ability to give all-round performance in a match.
