Batting & Fielding
The left handed batter of the Bangladeshi team, Najmul Hossain Shanto debuted in 2017. Shanto was a fine batter at the school level and trained at the Rajshahi Cricket Academy. He had played for the Under-17 and Under-19 team before making his debut for the senior team. In his early cricketing year, he scored a double century and got noticed. Shanto played his maiden BPL for Comilla Victorians in 2016.
His performance in first class cricket again earned him a BPL contract in 2017 and in that edition, he emerged as the top run scorer of the tournament with 749 runs in 16 matches. Following his exceptional performance in the BPL, he was named in the Bangladeshi team for the test series against New Zealand in 2017.
He then got a chance to play in the Asia Cup as well but unfortunately he didn’t do anything special and was soon dropped out of the team. He made a comeback in 2019. Shanto has the ability to time the ball really well and plays mature shots.
