Ashton Charles Agar is an Australian cricketer who plays for the Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League. He made his first-class debut in January 2015 and his List A debut in December 2018. He has also played for Somerset, Queensland, Sydney Sixers and Hobart Hurricanes in Twenty20 cricket.He has been a regular member of the Australian cricket team . Agar was born on February 28, 1994, in Brisbane, Queensland. He attended Kirwan College and played for the school’s cricket team. He then played for Norths Devils and Norths Devils Cricket Club before being drafted by Perth Scorchers in the 2014–15 seasonal draft. He made his List A debut for Perth Scorchers on December 8, 2018, against the Melbourne Stars at the WACA Ground. In this match, he took 5 wickets for 41 runs to help his team win by nine wickets. He made his international debut for Australia on January 7, 2019, against India at the Gabba Stadium. He is a right-handed batsman and right-arm medium pace bowler who played for Tasmania, Australia and Middlesex in first-class cricket. He made his List A debut for Tasmania in the Sheffield Shield on the 8th of January 2009. Later that year, he made his debut for Australia against Sri Lanka. Agar has also represented Middlesex in two T20 Internationals and one One Day International. In September 2013, he was handed a 12-month suspension by Cricket Australia after an incident in which he sent an offensive tweet concerning then Australian captain Michael Clarke. On the 28th of January 2016, Agar announced his retirement from all forms of cricket with immediate effect.
