One of the most experienced bowlers in the current Zimbabwean squad, Tendai Chatara debuted in 2013. Chatara played for the Under-19 team prior to his inclusion into the senior side. He was in the squad that played the 2010 Under-19 World Cup. Chatara’s rise to fame was his brilliant economy rate and ability to generate pace.
Chatara has been playing for The Mountaineers in domestic cricket. Chatara’s debut match came against India and he took 1 wicket in that match. Chatara played the 2015 ODI and 2016 T20 World Cup as one of their main pace bowlers. Chatara has 102 wickets in ODIs and 49 wickets in the T20I format.
Chatara’s 3 wickets for 48 runs against Pakistan in an ODI match in 2013 earned him the much needed appreciation. His only five wickets haul in the test format came in 2013, against Pakistan. Chatara got the MoM award in that match and his team won a test match against Pakistan for the first time in 18 years.
