Hailing from Langa, Cape province, Temba Bavuma earned the captaincy of South African team in 2021. Bavuma has been playing cricket since 2008 and made his international debut in 2014. Bavuma first came to limelight when he scored 242 runs in 4 matches at the Supersport season 2010/11.
He didn’t stop here and the very next season, he scored more than 600 runs and just like this he kept on performing consistently till he got called from the selectors to play in the national side. Bavuma’s maiden test century came against England in 2015-16
. Bavuma is not the very hard hitter of the ball but what we can see in his batting is maturity and patience. He continued to impress and on his ODI debut, he scored a century making his selection worth it. Bavuma’s 72 runs against Ireland in a T20I match in 2021 still remains his top score in T20I format. Bavuma is the first black African player to earn the captaincy of the South African team.
