Early life and career of Rovman Powell

Rovman Powell was born on the 22nd of January 1989 in Saint Kitts and Nevis. He started playing cricket at a very young age, and eventually moved to England to further his cricketing career. In 2008, he made his first-class debut for Hampshire. He played for several other teams throughout England before moving to Australia in 2013 where he played for the Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers. Growing up in the Caribbean, Powell attended boarding schools in England before moving to Toronto to continue his education at Harbord Collegiate Institute. He made his debut for Canada in 2009 and has since played 46 international matches, scoring 667 runs at an average of 36.65 with a top score of 109 not out. After captaining Canada to victory at the ICC Americas Championship Qualifier in May 2018, Powell was named captain of the team for the 2020 Americas Championship qualifiers. In November 2018 he scored 103 not out against Bermuda from just 65 balls which set a new record for the highest individual innings by a Canadian player in an international match.
