Early life and career of Morawakage Maheesh Theekshana
Morawakage Maheesh Theekshana was born on April 1, 1987 in Ratnapura, Sri Lanka. He is a left-handed batsman and wicket-keeper who plays for the national cricket team of Sri Lanka. He made his international debut in 2007, and has since played 19 Tests, 147 One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 11 T20Is. In December 2018, he was named as the captain of the Sri Lanka ODI team for the 2019 World Cup.
Morawakage Maheesh Theekshana began playing cricket at an early age in his home town of Ratnapura. After playing for local clubs and teams, he joined Colombo Cricket Club (CCC) in 2006. He made his first-class debut for CCC later that year, against Saracens Sports Club. Morawakage became a regular member of the Sri Lankan side over the next few years, making several high-profile appearances for the country in both domestic competitions and international tournaments.

Morawakage Maheesh was born on October 7, 1990 in Colombo. He is a left-handed batsman and a right-arm off break bowler who has represented Sri Lanka national cricket team since 2013. He made his international debut against Bangladesh in the 2013 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier tournament. In the same year, he also played for Sri Lanka A in their tour of England.
He made his One Day International debut against Zimbabwe in December 2014. His first ODI century came against India in the Nidahas Trophy later that year. He also scored a fifty against Pakistan during the 2015 Asia Cup. He became an integral part of the Sri Lanka squad for the 2016 ICC World T20 where he played all six matches, including the final, as Sri Lanka reached the semi-finals where they eventually lost to India.
He was named Player of the Tournament at the 2016 Asia Cup after scoring 319 runs at an average of 68.33 with two centuries and a half-century while taking five wickets with an economy rate of 5.97

Maheesh Theekshana was born on Nov. 25, 1988 in Morawakage, Sri Lanka. He is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium pace bowler. Maheesh started playing cricket at the age of 7. He played for the national under-19 cricket team and made his international debut in 2007 against India.
In 2009, he was awarded Sri Lanka Cricket A Grade Player of the Year Award. In 2011, he was selected to play for the Sri Lanka A team in an exhibition tour of Zimbabwe. In 2013, he was named in the squad for the 2013 ICC World Twenty20 tournament in Sri Lanka.
On Jan 7th, 2014, Maheesh made his One Day International (ODI) debut against England at Colombo National Stadium scoring 22 runs off 26 balls with 2 sixes and a four. Morawakage Maheesh Theekshana (born December 7, 1988) is a Sri Lankan cricketer who plays for the national team in all formats of the game. He made his first-class debut in 2006 against Tamil Nadu and has since played 46 first-class matches, scoring 2,830 runs at an average of 31.35. His highest score came in 2010 when he scored 148 against Central Province. In List A cricket, he has played 33 matches, scoring 1,488 runs at an average of 33.65. His greatest achievement was making the final of the 2016–17 Premier Limited Overs Tournament, where he scored 158 not out against Western Province to help his side win their fourth title.

Born and raised in Morawakage, a small town in the south-western district of Mahe, Mahesh Theekshana always had a burning passion for cricket. After excelling in his school days, he joined the national junior cricket team and made an immediate impact, scoring centuries in consecutive innings.
In 2012, he made his debut for Sri Lanka A against Bangladesh A and after impressing with consistent performances at domestic level, was called up to the senior side for their tour of India later that year. He made an instant impact, scoring 88 not out against Mumbai Indians in his first match on tour and cementing his place in the side.
Since then, Theekshana has become a regular member of the Sri Lankan side and has performed consistently well both domestically and on international tours. He is currently ranked number six in ICC Test rankings bowlers list and is considered one of the most promising young cricketers in world cricket.
Apart from cricket, Mahesh also enjoys spending time with family and friends, going for walks or riding horses when he can find time away from the game. He is a proud son of Morawakage village and credits his upbringing there as one of the reasons why he loves playing cricket so much.
