Martin Guptill is a New Zealand cricketer who currently plays for the Auckland Blues in the New Zealand domestic cricket competition. He has also played for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL. He also took part in the ICC World Twenty20 2016 and was awarded man of the tournament. Martin Guptill was born on the 8th of November, 1987 in Auckland, New Zealand. He spent his early life in Devonport, a suburb of Auckland before moving to Christchurch when he was nine years old.

Martin Guptil is a right hand opening batsman of the New Zealand team who has been playing international cricket since 2009.

Like every other Cricketer, Guptil first started playing domestic from where he made his place in the national side with his performance. Guptil scored 99 runs in his 2nd first class match. On his debut ODI match, Guptil scored a century against West Indies.

Then came the tour of England in 2013, Guptil scored back to back hundreds. He holds the record of scoring most runs in an inning by a New Zealander. His knock in the 2015 ODI World Cup is considered his best knock ever where he scored 237 runs against West Indies and that too in the quarter final. His innings earned him the record of most runs scored by an opening batsman in the ODIs. He was the top run scorer of the tournament. He also holds the record of scoring the fastest fifty by a New Zealander. He is the 3rd player in the World to have more than 3000 runs in T20Is.
