Anrich Nortje filled the void of a quality pace bowler in the South African side after the retirement of Dale Steyn. He has so far bowled above 150 kph several times. In the IPL, the top three fastest balls bowled by a bowler are by Anrich Nortje. He is one genuine pacer who has a deadly bouncer too in his bowling inventory. Nortje’s first class career began in 2016 and everything went right for him during that season. He was able to pick 20 wickets in 4 matches.
Nortje played for Eastern province in the 2016 Africa T20 Cup. His brilliance continued in the Mzansi Super League tournament 2018 as well, when he played for Cape Town Blitz. Though Nortje was ruled out of that tournament halfway due to an injury, he was able to take 8 wickets in the match that he was able to play. Nortje made a comeback in 2019 and debuted in ODI format in 2019 against Sri Lanka.
Nortje was named in the South African squad for the 2019 World Cup but unfortunately, he again got injured just before the event. Nonetheless, after all these hurdles, Nortje emerged as South Africa’s top pace bowler and became their kingpin.
