Born in Hereford, England on 9th of January 1990, Liam Dawson started his cricketing career playing for his local club team, The Herefordshire County Cricket Club. In addition to playing cricket, Liam also played football for The Herefordshire County Football Club before making the switch to cricket full-time in 2007.

In 2009 and 2010, Liam represented England at Under-19 level before being called up to the Under-23 side. He made his debut for England against India Under-23s in March 2012 and has since played a further 6 games for the national side.

He progressed through the ranks of local cricketing teams before being offered a full time contract by Warwickshire County Cricket Club in 2002. Dawson quickly made a name for himself and was selected to represent England at Under 21 level in 2001. He made his One Day International (ODI) debut against Sri Lanka in February 2004. In 2006, he was signed by Middlesex County Cricket Club and went on to play 101 matches for them, scoring 2,639 runs at an average of 31.40 and taking 114 wickets at an average of 34.62. His performances for Middlesex led to him being named as the 2008 ICC Cricketer of the Year and 2009 Wisden Cricketer of the Year. In 2011, he was signed by Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club where he spent three years before joining Surrey County Cricket Club in 2015. Dawson has played 106 Tests for England and scored 4,976 runs at an average of 35.53 with 34 centuries and 47 Test wickets
