Early life and career of Yannic Cariah

Yannic Cariah was born in Pretoria, South Africa on the 14th of July, 1987. He first played cricket at the age of 10 and soon showed talent for the sport.

In 2004, at the age of 16, Cariah moved to Australia to pursue his cricket career. He started playing for Queensland under-19s before moving up to represent Queensland A in 2006. In 2007 he made his senior debut for Queensland in a One Day International against New Zealand.

In 2009, Cariah made his Test debut for Australia against India. He went on to play two Tests and four One Day Internationals for Australia during that year.

In January 2010, Cariah signed a three-year contract with Somerset County Cricket Club in England. He made his debut for Somerset in a Firstclass match against Derbyshire Later that year he also made his List A debut in the Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy against Wiltshire.
