Jimmy Neesham was born on 15th November 1981 in Wellington, New Zealand. He is a left-handed batsman and an allrounder who has played for New Zealand in Tests, ODIs and T20Is.
Neesham made his first-class debut for Wellington against Otago in 2000 at the age of 16. He went on to play over 200 first-class matches for Wellington between 2000 and 2014, scoring over 6000 runs at an average of 32.39 with a fifty-plus score eleven times. In 2007, he was named player of the season in New Zealand Cricket’s domestic competition.
In 2009, Neesham was called up to the New Zealand national cricket team for the first time, making his Test debut against Sri Lanka at Dunedin. He played two further Tests that year but did not score any significant runs.
In 2010, Neesham returned to form with the bat, scoring 2161 runs at an average of 43.77 with four centuries including a career-high 211 against Queensland. He also took twenty wickets at 26.31 which helped him win the national player of the year award.
