The Irish cricketer Barry McCarthy made his debut in 2016. Born in Dublin, Ireland, his sister is a cricketer too. McCarthy also played for the Under-19 team before paving his way into the senior side. McCarthy took 4 wickets on his T20I debut in 2019 against Afghanistan and showed his brilliance. He bowled with sheer accuracy that day and eventually got the desired results.
In the starting years of his career, he was named and seen as the future star of the Ireland cricket team. McCarthy debuted in first class cricket in 2015. He had also played for the Durham county cricket club which is based in England but left the club in 2018 to continue playing for Ireland full time.
He has 3 five wickets haul in first class cricket. McCarthy has an impressive bowling record. He is one of the prominent pace bowlers in the current Irish squad. Though his role is of a bowler, he has the ability to hit some important runs at the lower order.
