Dawid Malan was born on 21 March 1988 in Cape Town, South Africa. He is a right-handed batsman and occasional wicketkeeper who played first-class cricket for Cambridge University and Middlesex County Cricket Club. After making his debut for the South African national side in 2009, Malan represented England at Under-19 level, winning a silver medal at the 2010 World Junior Championship. In 2011, he made his Test debut against Sri Lanka and went on to play five Tests in total. He also played one Twenty20 international for England in 2014. Malan retired from all forms of cricket in 2018 to focus on his batting form with Surrey County Cricket Club.

He has one brother, Jordan Malan. When he was young, the family moved to Scotland and then Zambia before returning to England when Dawid was eight years old. Dawid attended Rugby School in Warwickshire and played cricket for the school team. After leaving Rugby School, he studied at Durham University where he played for the university cricket team. He made his first-class debut for Sussex in August 2009 and later that year made his international debut for England against Sri Lanka at Lord’s Cricket Ground. In May 2011, he signed a new contract with Sussex which ran until the end of the 2013 season. In February 2014, he was signed by Middlesex on a three-year deal.[1]

Malan made his first-class debut for Northerns in the 2008/09 season. He soon established himself as one of the premier batsmen in South African cricket, ranking among the country’s leading run scorers over the next two seasons. Malan made his international debut for South Africa during their tour of England in 2011 and went on to play three more Tests and eleven ODIs before being dropped from the side after their 2016 tour of India. Malan returned to form during the 2018/19 domestic season, scoring 2106 runs at an average of 58.69 across all formats of the game. This saw him called up to captain South Africa A for their series against Australia A, his first lead role with the side since making his Test debut.
Malan has also had success with the ball, having taken 55 wickets at an average of 24.50 over 54 matches in first-class cricket and 23 wickets at an average of 34.11 in ODIs.

The kind of talent that Dawid Malan possess, it feels like he is a bit late to international cricket. Nonetheless, Malan made his T20I debut for England’s team in 2017 against South Africa and he literally destroyed the South African bowling line-up scoring 78 runs and earned the “Man of the match” on his debut
Malan played his first international test match in the same year and in the same series against South Africa but he couldn’t perform much in those matches. Malan scored his 1st test century in 2017 in the Ashes.
In the year 2019,he made his ODI debut against Ireland. Malan also became the No 1 T20I batsman in the year 2020.
Malan played for Middlesex from 2006 to 2019 and then moved to Yorkshire. He has played in plenty of T20 leagues throughout the World. He represented Peshawar Zalmi in the PSL in 2016, 2017 and then in 2019 and in 2020 moved to Islamabad United. Malan also played for the Punjab Kings in the IPL 2021.
