Rohit Sharma was born on 30th April 1987 in Bansod, Nagpur, Maharashtra. He is a right-handed batsman and an occasional right-arm off-spin bowler. He started playing cricket at the age of six and represented his school and club cricket teams. He made his Ranji Trophy debut for Mumbai in 2007 and quickly rose through the ranks. In 2008, he was selected for the Indian ODI team for the tour of Sri Lanka.
