He started playing cricket at the age of six and went on to play for both his school and club teams before making his debut for the New Zealand national team in 2010. With a very sluggish action and variation in his spin bowling, Mitchell Santner has been an important part of the New Zealand spin bowling attack. After Nathon McCullum and Daniel Vettori, he is their top quality spin bowler.
His magnificent performance in 2014-15 domestic season in New Zealand earned him a call from the selectors and he made his international debut in 2015 against England and managed to take 1 wicket and was quite impressive with the bat as well, scoring 28 runs in a single over. In the same year, he made his test debut as well.
One of his best performances till date was against India. He took 4 wickets by just conceding 11 runs and took his team to the victory.
