Marcus Stoinis is an Australian cricketer who has played for several teams in first-class cricket, as well as in the Australian domestic Twenty20 and One Day formats. He made his international debut for Australia cricket team in October 2018, and has also represented Australia at Under-19 level, making him Australia’s youngest ever ODI captain. Stoinis was born on 16 January 1996 in Geelong, Victoria. After spending some time playing football (soccer) with A-League club Melbourne City FC, he began playing cricket at the age of 10.

Marcus Stoinis made his senior debut for Victorian Bushrangers in the 2015–16 Sheffield Shield season. In September 2017, he made his international debut for Australia A against Ireland, taking 5 wickets in the match. He made a further two ODIs and two T20Is for Australia A before making his Test debut against India in Nagpur on 24 October 2018. Marcus made his first-class debut for the South Australian Redbacks in 2006 at the age of just 18. He quickly established himself as one of the state’s most promising players and in 2008 he was drafted to the Australian national team. Marcus made his Test debut against Sri Lanka in February 2009 and went on to play 11 Tests for Australia, scoring 2181 runs at an average of 33.07 including five centuries.

In 2013, Marcus married Brazilian model Léa Seydoux, who became pregnant with their first child shortly after their marriage. The couple welcomed their daughter Mia in 2015 and their son Luke in 2016.

In December 2017, it was announced that Marcus had been charged with assaulting a woman outside a nightclub near Melbourne following the Australian leg of the BBL Championship Series. The charge was later withdrawn after an intervention by Cricket Australia president James Sutherland.
