Daryl Mitchell is a New Zealand cricketer who has competed in international cricket tournaments since 2003. At the age of 25, Mitchell made his Test debut in April 2013 against India. A left-handed batsman and occasional off spinner, Mitchell has played for Otago, Wellington and Auckland in first-class cricket. He also represented New Zealand at under-19 level before making his ODI debut in November 2007. In December 2013, Mitchell was named as one of the replacement players for the West Indies tour of New Zealand. He made his T20I debut for New Zealand against Australia on 12 January 2014. Mitchell is the sixth player to score both 10,000 runs and 10 centuries in List A cricket, and he currently holds the record for the most sixes scored in List A cricket (191).

Daryl Mitchell was born on the 7th of October, 1976 in Wanganui, New Zealand. He made his first-class debut for Wellington against Otago in the Plunket Shield in 1997. Mitchell has since played for Wellington, Auckland and Central Districts. Mitchell represented New Zealand at the 1999 World Cup, 2003 World Cup and 2007 World Cup. In 2008 he was selected to play for the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Daryl Mitchell retired from international cricket in February 2010 after playing 19 Tests, 78 ODIs and 25 T20Is.

He played his first test match against Pakistan in February 2008 and scored 78 not out setting a new record for the highest individual score by a New Zealander in a test match. Mitchell was born on 1 December 1985 in the city of Nelson, New Zealand. His father, Daryl Mitchell Sr., played first-class cricket for the Northern Districts team and his mother, Shelley Mitchell is a netball coach. Mitchell himself started playing cricket at a young age and soon showed great talent both on and off the field. In 2003 he was selected to represent New Zealand at under-15 level and went on to play over 50 junior matches for his country before making his debut for the senior side in 2006.

After impressing with consistent performances for Otago, Mitchell made his Test debut against India in November 2008. He has since appeared in 23 Tests for New Zealand, scoring 607 runs at an average of 32.24 with two centuries and seven fifties.
