Karl Johan Birkenstock is a Namibian cricketer who has played for the national team since 2016. He made his debut for the side in an ICC World Cup Qualifier match against Botswana. He also played in the 2017 ICC World Championship Qualifier and the 2018 ICC World Cricket League Division Four tournament. Birkenstock is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm fast bowler. In October 2018, he was named in Namibia’s squad for the upcoming 2019 Africa T20 Cup. Karl Birkenstock has also represented his country at the Under-19 level and played two matches at the Under-23 level.

Early life and career of Karl Birkenstock

Karl Birkenstock was born on October 9, 1973, in Epinal, France. He started playing cricket at a young age and soon showed great talent for the sport. After spending some time playing for regional teams in France, Birkenstock moved to Namibia to play for the Namibian national team.

 

Birkenstock has played for Namibia since 1998 and has been a mainstay of the team throughout his career. He has competed in many tournaments, including the World Cup, Asia Cup, and Cricket World Cup. In 2005 he helped Namibia qualify for the prestigious ICC Champions Trophy tournament.

 

Birkenstock is considered one of the best all-round cricketers in Africa and is known for his strong batting skills as well as his accurate bowling attacks. He currently plays for Bavaria in Germany’s domestic league system.
